- GARY YAP - Contributing Artist
GARY YAP – Working
in comics from 1989 – 1994, Gary owes
his big break to an artist by the name of David
Williams. He was scheduled to be the Inker for
a mini-series called Tommy and the Monsters
(eventually renamed Monsters from Outer
Space) but, when David left the book prematurely,
he suddenly found himself not only the book’s
Inker, but the book’s Penciler, Letterer,
and Cover Artist, as well. Talk about trial
by fire. From there, he went on to work as an
Inker for DC Comics, Malibu Comics, and even
did the whole Penciler/Inker/Cover Artist thing
again for a parody book called Loco vs.
Pulverine for Eclipse Comics, where he
poked fun at everyone from Neal Adams to Dave
Sim (and still has the encouraging letters from
them to prove it). He’s spent the past
five years working on Fox’s King of
the Hill and The Simpsons as everything
from a Storyboard Artist to a Character Layout
Artist, from an Assistant Director to a Retakes
Director. He also began a
professional wrestling organization called EPIC
Pro Wrestling. But that’s a whole ‘nother
story.
